FAQs:

Why do we need regular maintenance on our computer systems?

Accounteks provides a comprehensive maintenance routine customized to each client that allows us to review your network and perform specialized tasks to clean up and maintain your network. In addition, we review and install the necessary Windows security updates to protect your network from known malware and security exploits. We also install other updates that correct errors and enhance the functionality of Windows, Microsoft Office and any other specialized software product your business currently uses.

What is the benefit of moving from an hourly client to a contracted maintenance client?

First and foremost, our contract customers’ networks are regularly monitored to ensure their systems are protected and their anti-virus software is up-to-date. Regular maintenance also allows our consultants to better understand daily challenges within our clients’ businesses and enables them to make suggestions on IT solutions that can help our clients run their businesses run more efficiently. Contract clients not only always receive priority response for regularly scheduled appointments, but also emergencies. Additionally, they enjoy special pricing and select services that are only available to contract clients.

If I don't open a virus-infected attachment, can my computer still get infected?

It depends. If you do not have the feature enabled that allows you to view .html images in your email, you might be safe. Most of the time, you actually have to open the attachment or click on links in the email in order to activate the virus. Never open or click on suspicious attachments or URLs.

What are “Worldox Projects” and how can I use them?

"Projects" is an advanced organizational feature that lets you group documents together, over and above normal Worldox Client/Matter/Doc Type categories. For example, a real estate firm might want to make a “Project” of closing binder files. A litigation firm might want to group all Exhibits for a given trial. (Note that Adobe Acrobat has a similar function which it terms a “Portfolio.”)

To create a Project, click on the “PROJECT” button at the bottom of the Worldox screen. Then select the desired files and drag and drop them to the “PROJECT” area. Click “SAVE AS” at the right of the screen and fill out a profile as you normally would. We recommend you put the word “project” in the file description, as it will make them easier to find. You might consider adding a “Project” type to “Document Types” which can also make them easier to find. Click “CLOSE” to close the Project screen. Once the Project is created, you can print out the listing to create a physical table of contents if you wish.

If you are using Worldox GX2 and have Workspace enabled, you can also drag and drop files to the particular Project in the Workspace.

What do I do if I forget my Postini password?

To reset your Postini password, go to http://login.postini.com
Enter your email address in the “LOG IN ADDRESS” field and password in the “PASSWORD” field
Click the “LOG IN” button
Click the “FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD?” link
You will be emailed a new temporary password

Why do so many spam e-mails get through my Postini?

Sometimes it takes Postini a day or two to weed out new threats, but your Postini settings, especially black lists, white lists and scanning settings, can and should be tuned to help reduce spam. For example, you should never white list your same domain name or your own e-mail address as spammers will be able to spoof your e-mail address and bypass Postini.

How do I reset my office Internet connection?

Typically your Internet connection consists of a DSL, Cable, or T1 router and a firewall. Both are usually located either in the server room or telecom closet. We will sometimes ask you to reboot these two units when you are experiencing Internet connectivity issues. The reboot process consists of removing the power from your Internet router followed by your Firewall, then plugging in your Internet router again. Wait approximately 5 minutes for the router to do its self-tests and then reconnect power to the Firewall. Your Internet connection should now be restored. Please make it a point to ask your Accounteks technician to point out the equipment, its location, and also the order of powering down and restarting the equipment on his next visit.

How do I know if Outlook is working offline?

Sometimes with Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007, you may experience issues receiving email while others in your organization may not be experiencing any email issues at all. A quick troubleshooting tip is to make sure you’re working online by looking at the lower right-hand side of your Outlook. It should read “CONNECTED TO MICROSOFT EXCHANGE”, not “WORKING OFFLINE”. If you see “WORKING OFFLINE”, click on the dropdown next to the words “WORKING OFFLINE” and uncheck “WORKING OFFLINE” from the dropdown. You should now be connected to the Exchange server and email should start flowing correctly.
